Mr. Martin Nworie Eze joined the Ministry of Foreign Affairs as a Third Secretary in February 2001. He holds a Bachelor’s Degree in French and German languages and Masters in International relations. He participated in educational and training programmes in diplomacy at the Foreign Service Academy Lagos and in the United Nations Institute for Training and Research (UNITAR) Geneva where he received short-term training in Negotiation skills, drafting and adoption of UN resolutions, collaborative leadership, key issues in international economic agenda and human right issues.
Before joining the Foreign Service, Mr. Eze worked in the Ebonyi State Ministry of Education as a tutor and later in the office of the Executive Governor of Ebonyi State as a public servant. At the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, he worked in various departments such as protocol, Multilateral Economic Affairs Division, D8, Consular and immigration Affairs Division, and Directorate of Technical Aid Corps (TAC).
Prior to his appointment as the Consul-General of Nigeria Bata, Republic of Equatorial Guinea, he has served abroad at various Nigerian Missions such as the Nigeria High Commission in the Islamic Republic of Pakistan, Permanent Mission of Nigeria to the United Nations Office Geneva, Switzerland and the Nigeria High Commission, Republic of Kenya. In Kenya, he functioned as the Acting Head of Mission from November 2019 to May 2021 before been cross-posted to the Republic of Equatorial Guinea as Consul-General.
At headquarters, he has served as leader of the Nigerian delegation on negotiation between Nigeria and the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region of China on Mutual Legal Assistance (MLA) and Transfer of sentenced persons (TSP) in August 2018. In Geneva, he functioned in an ad-hoc basis as the president of organisation of Small Island Developing States (SIDs) for 12 calendar months and participated in some other international negotiations and conferences when at the multilateral Mission and headquarters.
